Family days out

The Dartington estate is big, beautiful and ripe for exploring! There are miles of river and forest trails – see our walks guide for more – and options for affordable, family-friend food and drink for refuelling when you’re done.

But that’s just scratching the surface – there’s a whole kaleidoscope of attractions and activities to get stuck into…

Barn Cinema

Forget the multiplex and enjoy a film experience with a difference with our beautiful independent cinema, situated in a renovated 15th century barn. You can also hire the Barn for kids’ birthday parties.

Activity packs

Let the little ones loose in our glorious Deer Park – a haven of wildlife, accessible paths and great spots for river paddling. Pick up an activity-stuffed backpack from our Visitor Centre to use with our brass rubbing trail.

Time to play

Our all-natural wild play area, designed and installed by EarthWrights, is a beautiful, gated safe space for children to play – and there are picnic tables too. Why not make a meal of it?

You’ll find the play area opposite Space Studios – not far from the main car park.

Get the best deals with family membership

Dartington is a magical place for families. With family membership, you’ll get great discounts on all our activities and attractions, including our Barn Cinema Kids Club.

We’ve also teamed up with a number of local family attractions to ensure that you have plenty of options for weekend and school holiday adventures. We offer both a single parent/guardian family membership and joint parent/guardian family membership – perfect for parents, grandparents and carers alike.

Camp Dartington

Located in a truly stunning beauty spot, with views all the way to Haytor and excellent facilities. Plus access to woodland walks, river swims and all the eateries, gardens and activities of Dartington Hall on your (metaphorical) doorstep.

Also on the estate

It’s well worth checking out some of the brilliant family-oriented organisations found on our estate: Dynamic Adventures (adrenaline-fuelled activities), WildWise (wild outdoor experiences), Crazy About Clay (pottery fun) Arts Lab (community arts workshops) and MudTots (forest school for smaller children).
